Recreation and Leisure Activities..........
Ten Pin Bowling | UpnGoing
Bike Club
Activities stimulate mind and body, provide
exercise, relaxation and promote good health and well being.
Accessing activities of the participants choice is the goal
of this program.
Inclusion and involvement in generic community groups is
recognised as an essential element in achieving healthy self
esteem and a sense of well being.
DOV has a number of auspiced Recreation clubs including:
Rosebud Dolphins...........
 Operating
under the auspice of Disability Opportunities Victoria Incorporated
and sponsored by Rye RSL.
"Rosebud Dolphins" is a tenpin bowling league for people
with disabilities, bowling on Sunday mornings at Frankston
AMF Bowling Centre, Cranbourne Road, Frankston.
Each year our bowlers compete in the Melbourne City, Victoria
State, and National Disability Championships, always with
outstanding results. DOV Inc provides buses and volunteers
to help us get to the City and State venues, and Rye RSL provides
financial assistance to get us to the interstate Nationals
venues.
In 2006, of the seven bowlers selected for the Victorian
state squad competing at the Nationals, four were Dolphins
- an amazing achievement. In 2007 we had two Dolphin bowlers
selected for the State team.
We
are a quality, friendly league, with all our bowlers actively
seeking to improve their bowling standard, whilst at the same
time realising that it is the competing that counts and that
you don’t always win (but it’s character building to win!)
The most important thing is that each time you come to bowling
you must have fun!
YOU can assist the Dolphins in their endeavours by acquiring
a Community Benefits Card from your local Ritchies store and
nominating ‘Rosebud Dolphins’ as your chosen recipient.

Bike Club...........
Our
Bicycle club began with a dream by two people who both attended
DOV Rosebud, who loved to ride their bikes and who wished
to be part of a community bike club and to share their love
of cycling with others.
We began by making enquiries locally but could not find a
suitable club to join, so we decided to start our own.
Thus began our journey, and off we ventured on what has proven
to be a life changing experience.
We held our first meeting in May 2005, and we were off, the
wheels were rolling, the road ahead was to get up and going
- a good name for our club.
The
Club has conducted many group rides including a two-day and
a three-day ride (Rosebud/Queenscliff/Geelong), training days
to help educate those who needed guidance and encouragement
to ride their bike and to prepare for effectively riding in
a group, and some "come and try" days.
We have received great support from local community groups,
enabling us to purchase an electric three-wheel trike and
a tandem recumbent, enhancing our motto of Cycling for
All, by providing equipment for those unable to ride two-wheel
bicycles and supporting all to experience the fun and pleasure
of riding a bike.
The club has run several fundraising efforts, and the social
aspect is also very important, with a dinner each month, BBQs
and Christmas In July.
A community cycling club, member driven, open to all, providing
fun, exercise and community spirit is our aim.
